Fightscene Workshop
As mentioned in a previous post I'd like to see us offer some classes to accomplish the following:
1 Raise $$$ for a web site and storage.
2 Raise community awareness about what we do.
3 Raise the bar on the group's technical expertise.
I thought it would be fun to get the ball rolling by offering a Fightscenes Workshop. Here's a workshop outline.
Fightscenes for Motion Pictures:
Topics Covered:
Personal Protective Gear and Safety
Getting Physically Ready
Warming Up
Whole body, neck.
Learning Control
Rope target
How to Fall
Technique
Don’t cross the impact line
Fitness
Group practice: Rope target practice and falls onto mat.
Cinematography:
Line of Impact
Low budget particle effect
Example scene: Bubba takes it in the teeth with a bat. A wideangle closeup combo.
For Actors and Cinematographers:
Reacting to shots
Equal and Opposite Reaction
Jump back don’t kick
How to deliver a shot. It takes focus.
Working with, learning to trust your fight partner.
Directing and Coreography
Previsualization, Design, and Planning Shots
Block out and design
Storyboard or shoot pics as you refine your design
Shoot then view and refine
Choose your camera angles.
Practicing the fight and choosing a shooting style.
Master Shot with cutaways
Sequential shooting with short takes
Choosing good cut-aways to cover mis-timing.
Foley
Getting good fight sounds.
Covering bad/mistimed reactions
Group Practice: shoot a short fight scene.
